Product Details
Next Generation Controller (NGC) replacement for the 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee with 4.0L engine. The WJ-platform Grand Cherokee and late XJ Cherokee transitioned to the NGC architecture, a more capable 104-pin module mounted on the passenger-side inner fender, secured with three 10mm bolts.
This controller handles fuel delivery, ignition, variable valve timing (4.7L), electronic throttle control, and transmission shift scheduling for the 42RE/45RFE automatic. Common failure patterns on this generation include extended crank times in cold weather, erratic idle after hot-soak restarts, and intermittent transmission limp mode (P0700 with sub-codes).
Pre-programmed to your VIN with SKIM immobilizer pairing. The NGC on 4.0L engines uses a different calibration set than the inline-6, so year and engine match is critical. Updated flash includes TSB corrections for known fuel trim and EGR flow faults.
